Representative ProjectsTelecommunications:IEC developed a remote alarming system for a telecommunications company that monitors major and minor alarms in their remote switching junctions. The system improved response time by over 1000%. In addition, IEC added the capability to isolate failures down to a specific D13 that allowed remote monitoring sites to prioritize alarms based on which switch malfunctioned. The installed system consisted of approximately 100 nodes of which 5 were embedded host application nodes. IEC implemented this system in two remote sites. IEC was responsible for system design, hardware development, software development. ICELAN-G™ was the network management tool used for this project. Weapons Monitoring:IEC developed a power line fault monitoring system to monitor for plutonium leaks at a weapons facility. The system was required to monitor for leaks on over 100 sensors every 6 seconds. The installed system includes approximately 500 nodes and 16 ICELAN-G front ends. IEC was responsible for system design, hardware development, software development, network management (ICELAN-G), and the graphical user interfaces (USR) on this project. Treaty Violation Monitoring:IEC provided our Canary data logger and ICELAN-G for this project. The system monitors for weapons treaty violations from a remote location. The network consists of many LONWORKS® based sensors. IEC’s Canary data logger records all network traffic and logs this information for later retrieval. ICELAN-G is used to install and configure the network. Commercial Printing:IEC is providing the user interface for the new generation of printing presses. Each press includes approximately 40 USD runtime applications that are used for diagnostics and maintenance of the press. Industrial I/O:ICELAN-G is in use to manage control modules that require a high degree of configurability. IEC is integrating a custom configuration facility into ICELAN-G. Commercial Sound Systems:ICELAN-G is supporting this company's LONWORKS based amplifier controls. ICELAN-G is supporting up to 200 amplifiers, each amplifier using all 62 available network variables. This system's user interface (IEC's User Screen Development Runtime) supports a constant network bandwidth of 100 Hz. Aircraft Tank Farms:IEC developed an embedded host application to support all network communications including network variable updates, explicit messaging and LonTalk file transfer protocol (FTP). The application is used to monitor aircraft fuel tank farms. Water System Control:This company is using IEC’s PC/104 Adapter in their water jet system. In addition, IEC developed embedded drivers to support the requirement to have multiple network interfaces open at the same time. Automotive:This customer is using IEC’s PC/104 Adapter and our standard embedded driver on their LONWORKS based tractors.
